Self-directed supports

The Australian Government established the NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce (the Taskforce) in February 2024. Its role was to provide expert advice on the design and implementation of a new graduated risk-proportionate regulatory model.

The Taskforce released advice on 2 August 2024.

Consultation on the Taskforce recommendations for participants who self-direct their own supports is now open. The focus is the implementation of Category C: Service for One/Self-Directed Support Registration.

Consultation paper: Standard and Easy Read versions of the consultation paper are available at Department of Social Services - Consultation on Self Directed Supports Registration.

The consultation paper asks for feedback on these three areas:

  1. Definition of self-directed supports
  2. Proposed obligations for registered self-directed participants
  3. Support from the NDIS Commission

Have your say

Consultation open until 17 January 2025.

Details on how to submit your feedback are on Department of Social Services - Consultation on Self Directed Supports Registration.
