NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission – Bunbury drop-in sessions

NDIS participants in the Bunbury region are invited to attend one of three drop-in sessions with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner Tracy Mackey on 17 January.

The NDIS Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Catherine Myers will be available to meet with participants, their families and advocates to discuss the NDIS Commission and its functions, and the ways it can help participants choose supports and services, as well as helping to resolve complaints or address feedback about NDIS service providers.

Officers will also be visiting the region in January to remind providers of their responsibilities and obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct.
NDIS Commissioner Tracy Mackey said the drop-in events at Bunbury are to help make sure that people who access the NDIS understand their rights to receive safe and quality supports, and that help is available if they have a concern about the service they receive.

“We want to ensure that if a participant has a problem or a concern relating to their NDIS services or supports, they know how to raise it with us, and what actions we can take. We’re visiting to let participants in Bunbury know that if they have a concern, they should tell us, so we can take action to resolve it and make it better.”

Commissioner Mackey encouraged NDIS participants, their families and carers to drop in for a chat.

“We want to meet people while we’re in town and talk to them about how we can provide the best possible support,” she said.

“As part of this visit, NDIS Commission officers will also be attending local providers, speaking with participants and NDIS workers to check their understanding of their obligations to follow the NDIS Code of Conduct so they can provide the best possible services for participants.”

The NDIS Code of Conduct requires:

  • Acting with honesty, integrity and transparency.
  • Respecting individual rights to self-determination and decision-making.
  • Respecting freedom of expression.
